Karstensens Skibsvaerft A/S is currently building a new purse seiner/trawler for P/F Vinnan of the Faroe Islands.

Tròndur i Gøtu has been described as an efficient working platform for purse seining and midwater trawling and is arranged for transporting and carrying fish in RSW tanks.

The vessel has been designed to emit low noise in all operation modes, including accommodation and noise into the sea and can accommodate 16 people.

The main engine is a Wärtsila 12V32 with 6,000kW output and the auxiliary engines are: Wärtsila 6L20 (1,110kW), Wärtsila 8L20 (1,450kW) and Wärtsila 300HS (300kW).

The propeller plant is a Wärtsila ø4.000mm, the shaft generator is a Leroy Sonar (3,000kW) and the thrusters are Brunvoll (940/1,100kW).

The winches are supplied by Bratvaag, the cranes by Triplex and the fish pumps by Karmøy.

The RSW-plant is supplied by Iras and the vacuum pump by York.

The vessel has been designed by Vik-Sandvik/Wärtsilä Ship Design and is due to be delivered in 2010.
