The Seafood Carbon Emissions Profiling Tool (SCEPT), developed by UK non-departmental public body (NDPB) Seafish, has been shortlisted as one of three finalists for the NASF 2026 Sustainability Award, which recognises the important work carried out by seafood companies and highlights the vital role sustainability plays across the industry.

Competing with the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Veramaris for the prize, SCEPT was designed to support seafood businesses seeking to measure, understand and reduce their carbon footprint.
“By providing seafood businesses with insights into emission risks, or hot-spots, across their supply chains, the tool plays an important role in helping industry take informed steps towards a more sustainable future,” said Dr Stuart McLanaghan, Head of Responsible Sourcing at Seafish.
“By removing barriers to credible carbon measurement and catalysing sector-wide action, it is transforming how the UK seafood sector, and beyond, both understands and can reduce its climate impact - helping to create a more transparent, sustainable and climate-smart global seafood system.”
The NASF 2026 Sustainability Award winner will be announced at the North Atlantic Seafood Forum in Bergen on 3 March 2026.
