The Dutch Government has granted financial support to a group of nine Dutch flatfish fishing vessels to have their fishing method assessed for Friend of the Sea certification.

The Dutch Government’s decision came following benchmarking by the LEI Institute of several eco-labels to assess compliance with the FAO guidelines for eco-labelling. The Dutch Government fully promotes fishermen and sustainable catch.
