Vónin has received very good feedback on two codends that were made for Danish purse seiner/trawler Ruth HG264 last summer.

The vessel started the new year fishing for herring in the North Sea and the catches have been good, says Vónin. One thing that has been quite remarkable is the quality of fish that was discharged on the first trip. Even though the vessel was pumping large hauls in of 1000 tonnes of herring at a time, the quality of the fish was very good. The fillets that came out of the factory in Rügen, Germany were premium quality and were not bloodshot at all.

Both captains on Ruth say that they are very satisfied with the codends from Vónin. "You can just fill it up and don't worry about the quality!"

The codends are almost 100m long. The circumference in the front is 25% higher than the usual opening on codends of this kind. The inner netting is made in the highest possible twine diameter for a 44mm mesh in single braided nylon. The outer netting is in triple 7mm nylon twine up to the middle of the codend while the front part is in double 7mm and 6mm. This has proven to be a crucial matter with regards to the strength of the codends.
