One of Iceland''s biggest insurance companies Sjova Almennar and one of Iceland''s leading banks Islandsbanki have been confirmed as sole joint sponsors for the Icelandic Fisheries Awards 2005.
Fisheries Awards 2005. The two companies, which joined forces this spring, confirmed their sponsorship last month. The presentation of the 2005 Icelandic Fisheries Awards have had a complete make over and will now be incorporated in the Wednesday Night Reception, the first night of the Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition. The Sjóvá Almennar/Ãslandsbanki sponsored 11 Awards and the announcement of the winners will take place during a cocktail reception in Kópavogur's art gallery Gerarsafn. The hosts of the evening are the Icelandic Ministry of Fisheries and the City of Kópavogur.
Sjóva Almennar and Ãslandsbanki have been sponsors of the Icelandic Fisheries Awards on previous occasions since the launch in 1999. Both companies see the awards as a valuable recognition of outstanding achievement but felt that a level of change and fine tune was required to make the event even more attractive and successful. Incorporating the awards in a reception makes the occasion easier accessible for more guests and it gives them the opportunity to mix with the international and icelandic fishing industry at all levels. Orvar Thor Olafsson, Marketing and Public Relations Manager at Ãslandsbanki and Sigfrid Eik Ãrnardottir Marketing Manager at Sjóvá Almennar said:
"By sponsoring these awards we are continuing our strategy and commitment to the international seafood industry and The Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition. Our Seafood Industry Team consists of experts who have years of experience in seafood and in the world of banking. These awards always receive great attention and are an excellent opportunity for industry leaders to come together. We feel very comfortable sponsoring the awards."
The announcement of the Awards will be limited to winners only, which will ensure a sleak and short ceremony of less than an hour. The guests and winners will have time to attend the awards reception first thing in the evening and still have the possibility to move on to other engagements on the same night. Though leaving with the winning Icelandic Fisheries Awards Trophy in their hand, there could be course for a little extra celebration than originally planned.
The judging panels for the awards will be again spearheaded by the editor of World Fishing Magazine and the editor of Iceland's weekly fishing newspaper Fiskifrettir. More information on the awards categories for this evening and how to enter including how to attend the reception will shortly be available from the organisers' website:
