An increase in cargo throughput in the first six months of the year at the Vladivostok Sea Fishing Port is partly due to growth in containers and seafood passing through the port.
Between January and June the port handled 2.20 million tonnes of cargo, up 5.1% over the same period last year, which includes 145,200 tonnes of seafood production. This is a 22.30% increase compared to last year’s figures, while modernisation and upgrades to port infrastructure, along with measures to reduce costs for cargo handling operations, have seen the port’s container traffic up to 109,246 TEUs, a 37% growth.
The 145,000 tonnes traffic in seafood makes Vladivostok the Russian Federation’s leading sea port for seafood transshipment.
Construction of a new 32,000 tonne cold store at the port is in preparation, in addition to the current services on offer for holding auctions, long-term seafood product storage, and supplying transshipment and storage in accordance with EU directives and regulations.
Vladivostok Sea Fishing Port is able to handle up to 5 million tonnes of cargo annually, including more than 200,000 TEUs.
It is situated on the south coast of the ice-free Zolotoi Rog Bay.
