The Domestic Aquaculture Strategy programme is part of the new Seafish Corporate Plan 2015-2018.

Mr Cocker has extensive experience in the aquaculture industry both in the UK and overseas. He has previously worked as an aquaculture advisor for the World Wildlife Federation in Vietnam, with Scapa Ltd, Uganda/Business Minds/Stirling University as a technical manager (Aquaculture Internship) in Uganda and shortly before joining Seafish, Mr Cocker was an aquaculture research analyst/independent consultant for Monterey Bay Aquarium in California.

As aquaculture manager, Mr Cocker will be based in Seafish’s Grimsby office and will be responsible for representing strategic UK aquaculture interests, which include being the primary contact for Government bodies, key domestic sector stakeholders and facilitating a collaborative approach to delivery of the national aquaculture strategies.

Mr Cocker said, “I am looking forward to getting my teeth into this new role at Seafish. This is a fresh approach for this sector that has been based on recommendations from the Seafish Aquaculture Review which specifically asked for a post to be created to address the key issues and constraints of this industry”.

Seafish’s new corporate plan will be launched in April, with a series of roadshows which will outline the organisation’s programme of work for the next three years.
