Three Norwegian industrial refrigeration companies have entered into an agreement to join forces. All three companies are well known suppliers to the fishing industry and the new joint venture company will be one of the largest suppliers of industrial refrigeration equipment to the fishing, fish farming and fish processing industries, under the name of FRIONORDICA.

At the end of June this year the company FRIONORDICA AS was established in Norway by Midt-Troms Kjøleservice AS (MTK), Aquaterm AS and Finsam Refrigeration AS. The new company will initially be the sales company for the three principals. FRIONORDICA will have seven offices in Norway and one in Chile.

Aquaterm have been supplying RSW systems based on their own titanium chillers and shell and tube condensers for many years. The company is a pioneer in equipment for the fish farming industry with products such as egg chillers, heat pumps for smolt production and live fish cooling systems.

Finsam has, for more than 40 years, been a major supplier of ice machines, ice plants and ice slurry systems for the fishing industry world-wide. The company has delivered ice plants to fishing and fish processing organisations all over the world, as well as for several other applications.

MTK was founded in 1976 and is one of the leading companies in the Norwegian industrial refrigeration market onshore and offshore. The company offers service facilities in more or less all fishing harbours along the Norwegian coast. The company is well known for its large industrial refrigeration systems for the fishing-fleet, fish processing plants, pelagic freezing systems and general refrigeration systems for the food industry in Norway and abroad.

Aquaterm and Finsam have collaborated for several years and for more than five years have had a joint venture company under the name of Frionordica in Conception, Chile. Last year MTK and Frionordica, Chile joined forces and delivered a large freezing plant for horse mackrell in Coronel. The installation was very successful and the companies later worked out a plan to extend the co-operation to other parts of the world.

The new alliance will enable the companies to offer complete integrated refrigeration systems to the fishing industry world wide using the networks of all the companies jointly.
