HM King Harald will undertake the official opening of Nor-Fishing 2006 on Tuesday 8 August in Trondheim. He previously opened the 1996 event, and also officially opened Aqua Nor 2003.

HRH Crown Prince Haakon conducted the official opening of the Aqua Nor events in 1999 and 2001. The Board of the Nor-Fishing Foundation is extremely pleased with the royal visit and says it will be an inspiration and an encouragement to the numerous fishermen working at sea, the suppliers and the organiser.

Mayor of Trondheim Rita Ottervik has invited mayor Rabindranath Quinteros of Puerto Montt, in Chile, to visit Trondheim during Nor-Fishing 2006. Purto Montt hosts the leading international aquaculture show Aqua Sur, and with Trondheim hosting the two principal, international events Nor-Fishing and Aqua Nor, the two mayors will be discussing the responsibility and obligations their cities have in connection with major trade shows.

In addition, Fisheries and Coastal Affairs Minister Helga Pedersen will be inviting international counterparts and senior civil servants from important fishing nations to meetings during Nor-Fishing 2006.

To date, approximately 400 exhibitors from 12 countries have registered for Nor-Fishing 2006 and the event is nearly booked solid, but according to director Odd Berg of Trondheim Spektrum, there is still room to squeeze in a few more exhibitors.
