Solstrand has delivered its new build no. 77, MFV Sheanne to owner O''Shea Fishing Company, Killybegs, Ireland
The contract was signed by Teddy O'Shea and Solstrand AS in May 2002
The co-operation between yard and owner has been very good throughout the building period, said Solstrand. MFV Sheanne is the first vessel delivered to Ireland by Solstrand, and it is expected that the vessel will be a good advert for Solstrand around Ireland.
The pelagic trawler was designed by Skipsteknisk in Aalesund, Norway. She has a total length of 61.6 metres and the beam is 13.5m.
The loading capacity is 1,600 cu.m in nine cargo tanks arranged for cooling with circulated sea water. The RSW machinery is produced by Teknotherm AS, Halden, Norway and the capacity for this plant is 1,600,000 kcal/h divided between two equal compressor plants. The cooling media is ammonia.
The main engine is a Mak 9M32C resilient - mounted and connected to a CP propeller with a 4m diameter nozzle via a Scana Volda gearbox type ACG 95/750 K. The auxiliaries are Caterpillar, one 3508 TAB, 968 kW, and one 3412 TA, 620 kW. The harbour generator set is a Caterpillar 3304 T with 116 kW capacity..
The rudder is from Becker and the steering gear is from Rolls-Royce Marine, Tenfjord Norway. Side thrusters comesfrom Brunvoll, one stern, one bow, both 900 HP. Rapp Hydema have supplied the winches and hydraulic system. The two trawl winches are 80t, each with a capacity of 2,360m 38mm cable. The top-line winch takes 560 m 80mm rope and the pull is 50t. The main net drums take 28 cu.m each, and the midline takes 10 cum net. The two cranes are from Z-Marine.
The steel hull was built in Istanbul, Turkey by Celik Tekne Shipyard and was the third hull delivered to Solstrand from this yard.
Several local suppliers and sub-contractors have contributed to make MFV Sheanne a quality product says Solstrand. Vik Elektro have supplied and carried out the electrical installation, Maritim Montering and Maritime Møbler produced and fitted the furniture and accommodation.
