The US National Fisheries Institute (NFI) has announced the addition of Diana M. Bostic as vice president of political affairs. Bostic will help continue to raise NFI’s political profile in Washington and across the US, educating key audiences on the benefits of seafood and the industry’s positions on diverse water-to-table issues.

NFI President John Connelly said, “Diana will play a lead role in ensuring our nation’s decision makers understand the vital role seafood plays in America’s health and economic success. Her expertise and extensive knowledge of the legislative process will benefit our members as they help their legislators understand their businesses.”

After serving Patton Boggs, LLP as a public policy advisor in energy and healthcare, Bostic is well positioned to represent NFI and its members, promoting public policies on seafood that are based on hard science. With 10 years of bipartisan experience on Capitol Hill as an aide to former US Senator John Breaux (D-La.), special assistant to Senator J. Bennett Johnston (D, La.), and as a staffer to Representative W.J. “Billy” Tauzin, she understands the importance of industry-government relationships and the role these partnerships play in the creation of sound U.S. public policy.

Bostic said, “I welcome the opportunity to help seafood community leaders from all regions of the country better understand how they can engage politically. It is essential that our members help legislators and other public officials understand the role seafood companies play in bringing healthy products to the tables of American families.”
