Promens Dalvík will introduce new Saeplast products at the upcoming Seafood Processing Europe exhibition, including the final production version of its next generation of insulated containers.

The prototype of the innovative onboard tub received excellent reviews when unveiled at the show in Brussels last year. The new 400-litre tub breaks from tradition by integrating several important and exciting changes.

“Our new model has lots of advantages over the older generation containers,” says Hilmar Gudmundsson, sales and marketing manager for Promens Dalvík. “A new design for forklift slots means there is no risk of dirt getting into stacked tubs, as each tub works as a lid for the one below. This makes them much more hygienic. They are also more secure when roto dumping with a forklift, and are lighter for easier handling – only 35kg.”

The clever design also provides for a greater volume of fish in the same space, “…and the tub’s streamlined profile makes much better use of valuable storage space,” says Bjarki Magnússon, chief of product development for the company. “Their low centre of gravity makes stacking very stable, and they can even stack with standard Saeplast 460 litre and 660 litre containers, making them a very economical addition to a company’s product mix.”

Other new products include:

• The 660 litre Saeplast Self-Sinking Brine Grid is a new version of the grid introduced in 2005. This is a standalone grid and weight module that keeps floating parts submerged when marinating to avoid oxygen-related damage to raw material (self-submerging brine grid).

• The Super-Sealing Drainhole Plug was introduced with the new 400 litre low profile onboard tub. It has a much better food-grade rubber seal that prevents leakage and contact with the drainhole plugs threads. The new drainplug also performs well in warm climates, and can be easily hand tightened.
