Zamakona Yards has delivered a new live fish carrier to Sølvtrans AS in Bilbao, the first in a two ship wellboat order.

The vessel was ordered back in April 2013 at a cost of NOK250m (€22m).
Ronja Polaris has been specialised to carry live fish including salmon, trout, smolts and other farmed species.
It incorporates new technologies in the transport of live fish with cargo tanks that ensure that water is circulated throughout the system, directly reducing the mortality of live fish and helping to ensure a healthy delivery.
The vessel measures 75.8m and has a cargo capacity of 3200 cubic metres. It was designed by Rolls-Royce Marine with the collaboration of both the owner and the shipyard. It is powered by two diesel electric 1500kW motors.
Sølvtrans AS says that a combination of new licences, continued consolidation and stricter regulations in the farming industry have increased its demand for tonnage. The company is expanding and renewing its fleet to prepare for future growth.
