FAO Director-General Jacques Diouf has appointed Manoj Juneja, a citizen of India, as one of FAO''s two Deputy Directors-General.

Mr Juneja will be the Deputy Director-General for Operations as of 1 July 2011. He has 24 years of UN experience, having served at the International Labour Organization (ILO) as well as in FAO's Office of Programme, Budget and Evaluation, Technical Cooperation, and Corporate Services, Human Resources and Finance departments.

Since January 2008, Mr Juneja has served as FAO Assistant Director-General, Corporate Services, Human Resources and Finance Department.

He oversaw the introduction of results-based management and improved the efficiency of administrative services. He worked on the Organization's reform agenda, advocating for FAO's strategies and articulating the linkages between FAO's programmes, processes and structure. From 2005-2007 he served as Director of the Office of Programme, Budget and Evaluation.

Manoj Juneja replaces Changchui He who has held the position since January 2010 and will retire at the end of June 2011.
