Certified Quality Foods (dba Seafood Analytics) has launched an electronic fish-monitoring device capable of measuring and storing key information.

Fishboard enables researchers, aquaculture farms, processors, at-sea observers, fishermen and other participants in the seafood industry to quickly and easily assess length, weight, health, condition, and degradation status and body composition of individual fish. The device displays real-time observation and storage of all measurements.
“Fishboard addresses pressing fisheries management and seafood supply chain needs by providing a means to measure fish and seafood that enables effective management and sustainability of marine and aquaculture resources,” said Dr Cox, chief scientific officer at Seafood Analytics.
Stored values can be used for comparisons, growth trends, reports, and analysis while real-time data can be used for immediate evaluation of individual fish health and growth. GPS, pictures and other data can also be added.
Dr Keith Cox developed the device, launched at Seafood Expo North America, while on assignment with the National Marine Fisheries Service in Alaska, US.
Funding for Fishboard’s research and development was through the North Pacific Research Board (NPRB).
