Ormston Technology Ltd of Hull has been appointed as dealers for the Seascan ground discrimination system from Seatronics.
Ormston who are a well established supplier of marine communications and electronic systems see the Seascan product range as an ideal compliment to there existing products.
In particular Ormston supplies the Sodena range of plotting systems which have already been used in conjunction with Seascan on a number of installations.
In conjunction with the Sodena product Seascan can allow the user to plot precise information regarding the type of seabed he is passing over, record this information, and play back historical data.
This technology is becoming increasingly important with the industry changing so quickly.
The vessel tracks, colour coded to represent seabed type, can then be used to locate new fishing grounds, improve efficiency on existing ones and avoid damage to gear in poor areas.
This system has already proved a benefit in many vessels throughout the UK, Ireland and beyond involved in trawling, scallop dredging, prawn fishing, Cray fishing etc, in fact any application where you are operating on, or near, the seabed.
Ormston are able to provide a complete system of echo sounder, Seascan, plotter system and pc should it be required.
