Webjørn Barstad will take up his new position as CEO of Norway’s Havfisk in January 2015.
Mr Barstad’s main tasks will be to develop the company in Norway bringing his 22 years’ experience within the fishing industry to the table.
He has for the last four years managed the operations in Strand Havfiske and has previously been the head of department at The Norwegian Fishing Vessel Owner’s Association.
Havfisk ASA operates 10 trawlers and has 29.6 quotas for cod and haddock trawling, as well as 31.9 fishing quotas for saithe and prawn fishing quotas. Other species of fish are also caught, primarily as secondary catches.
All fish are headed and gutted onboard and the company is able to provide fresh and frozen fish throughout the year.
In 2013, the company's total catch amounted to 56,693 tonnes, including 36,165 tonnes of cod, 8762 tonnes of haddock and 9234 tonnes of saithe.
In the same year the company’s operating revenue in 2013 was NOK 779m.
