After Mørenot’s premises at Skjervøy in northern Norway were devastated by a fire last year, a new building is about to take shape and will be ready for use at the end of this year.

The new building with a 1500m3 floor space is being sited on an industrial estate, close to Mørenot’s warehouse where the company has made every effort to continue services as normal. The Skjervøy department employs twelve staff carries out production and repair of trawl gear, seine nets and purse seines for both coastal and deep-sea fishing sectors of the fleet.
Since the fire last year, the staff have had to be imaginative in ensuring that deliveries are made as usual, which has meant re-routing some production through the company’s Tromsø and Ålesund departments.
“This has been an unusual year for us,” said sales manager Rune Arild, speaking from his home office in Skjervøy.
“Now we are very much looking forward to getting back to work in the new building.”
According to Mørenot, the new facility in Skjervøy will consist of a net loft, shop, offices and warehouse, with completion scheduled for the end of 2020.
