The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) has joined forces with global seafood expert Sealord in a new campaign to educate Australian schoolchildren about sustainability this week.
Save Some For Me is a new campaign which asks primary school children to share their thoughts on the health of the world’s oceans in order to win prizes.
Patrick Caleo, MSC manager Australia, said: “It’s important we talk to this generation about sustainable seafood practices to help them make educated decisions when they are older.”
As well as targeting younger consumers though, Woolworths customers purchasing any MSC labelled Sealord product over the next month will be entered into a competition to win iPad Minis and smart phone speakers.
To enter, customers must keep the receipt from their purchase and then head to the Sealord website and explain in 25 words or less why it’s important to have fish in the ocean for the future.
Sealord specialises in MSC certified sustainable New Zealand Hoki. The company is unique because it catches its own fish with its own vessels in New Zealand waters.
Sealord’s Hoki fishery is one of only a handful of fisheries around the world that has met MSC’s rigorous standards for sustainable fisheries for the third time.
