Publisher of World Fishing & Aquaculture, Mercator Media, has announced the opening of its second overseas office.

The UK based B2B publishing and events company focuses mainly on the commercial marine sector.
The new office based in Maryland, USA, is being headed up by Lucy Clifford, Head of Sales – Americas. Lucy has extensive knowledge of all the Mercator Media (MML) magazine and event brands, having worked for MML in the UK. During her time in the UK, Lucy worked hard to refine MML products to ensure a better offering to customers.
Mercator Media has a growing US client base, so an office based in the US to act as a point of contact for all American clients will ensure a smoother customer relations experience. Lucy will also be aiming to secure new business in order to expand the brands.
One event that MML hopes will benefit from the new US office is the triennial Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition, which next takes place in November 2017. This international event covers every aspect of the commercial fishing industry, from catching and locating to processing and packaging, right through to marketing and distribution of the final product. Established in 1984, this is one of the world’s leading fishing events, and one that MML is keen to introduce more of the US market to.
“Being on the same time zone makes a huge difference from a client support perspective, “says Lucy. “ My role is to consult with our clients to come up with the most appropriate form of marketing that’s balanced with their business objectives. We will attend more trade shows than ever before and put a face to the brand names. I believe that effective networking is done on the same time zone, face-to-face, and building a rapport with someone by looking at them in the eye.”
