French company ACELMA has launched DATANET, a low-cost and simpler version of its wireless geometry and trawl-positioning system GEONET. The new software provides spread-door data and can be uprated by adding functions such as distance, water temperature and depth.
The parent GEONET programme uses two sensors mounted on the trawl doors to transmit essential and accurate data to an electronic array located under the keel. This links to the onboard computer system to offer distances between the vessel and each door, distance between doors, depth of the doors, water temperature and the position of each door - port and starboard. It uses the vessel's route as a parameter.
Geonet can also operate with most navigation software and can give the geographical position of the doors on a plotter. Another new product from ACELMA is a head rope and catch sensor, fully compatible with GEONET and DATANET.
Mark Vivian, ACELMA's export sales manager, says they are looking for distributors worldwide and have already had a good response from Spain, Portugal, Greece, Denmark, Norway, Iceland and countries in Asia.
