Excel

The vessel is arranged as a twin-rig prawn/whitefish trawler, and is a repeat of the Ellorah which was delivered by the Yard in July last year.

The hull form is double chine with transom stern, bulbous bow, and with a box type ballast keel.

Macduff Profilers cut the steel kit from cutting information supplied by Macduff Ship Design Limited, and fabrication of the hull was sub-contracted to Richards Dry Dock and Engineering Limited in Great Yarmouth.

The hull was then towed to Macduff for machinery installation and fitting out.

The aluminium alloy wheelhouse and shelterdeck were fabricated and fitted in Macduff.

The steel deckhouse is fitted rail to rail athwartships and is weathertight along with the forward deckshelter space. Aft of the deckhouse the deckshelter is continued to the transom and is non-weathertight.

Layout below deck from forward – forepeak complete with chain locker and water tank, fishroom, engineroom, and cabin with steering gear compartment.

Layout on main deck from forward – winch/fish handling area, deckhouse and net handling area.

The main engine is a Mitsubishi S6A3 MPTK rated 508HP (379kw) at 1840RPM with a Reintjes WAF274L reverse reduction gearbox with 7.043:1 reduction ratio, driving an 1800mm diameter 4 blade Kort propeller in a Kort XL fixed nozzle.

A Mitsubishi 6D16T auxiliary engine is arranged on the port side to drive the hydraulic pumps for the deck machinery through a pto clutch. This engine is heat exchanger cooled and is rated 169HP. It is also arranged to drive a 46kw 415/3/50 generator.
