The vessel was due to be a repeat of previous Macduff vessel, Golden Sceptre, but the owner decided to stretch the vessel in order to accommodate the equipment required for freezing prawns at sea.

The hull is double chine, with a deep box keel for ballast. The stem is well raked forward over an extended bulbous bow.

The vessel has a length overall of 24.27m, a breadth of 7m and a moulded depth of 3.87m.

The steel deckhouse of the 228t vessel is fitted rail to rail athwartships, and the steel shelterdeck is designed as an extension of the hull without a rail line. The shelterdeck is weathertight except for the aft net handling area.

The main engine is a Cummins KTA38 MO, rated 800HP at 1800RPM, with a Reintjes WAF374 with 7.476:1 reduction ratio, driving a 2000mm diameter Teignbridge 4 blade propeller in a fixed nozzle.
