Jeremy Crawford

Jeremy Crawford, IPNLF's new Southeast Asia director, will initially focus on moving IPNLF’s Indonesian agenda forward

Operating from Bali, Mr Crawford will initially focus on moving IPNLF’s Indonesian agenda forward.

Martin Purves, managing director of IPNLF, said: “Jeremy has been making a positive contribution in fisheries management for the past 10 years; tackling some of the most challenging issues in the sector through collaboration with leaders and communities, and identifying meaningful solutions.”

Pioneering work

Mr Crawford joins IPNLF from the Thai Union Group PCL where he was the group’s responsible sourcing manager.

In this role, Mr Crawford helped to establish the Responsible Sourcing pillar for its sustainability strategy to help address illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, traceability, sustainability and fair labour compliance for all their fishery-based supply chains.

He also helped develop the group’s Global Tuna Commitment for responsible sourcing and sustainability of tuna resources.

Project manager

IPNLF has additionally appointed Nur Suri Hapsari as Indonesia project manager, based in Jakarta.

With experience in project management and stakeholder liaison, she most recently worked as a performance management consultant and trainer for Indonesian advisory firm PT Solusi Inovasi Dayaguna.

Mr Purves stated: “…she will progress our impact on the region’s one-by-one tuna supply chains, including initiating and supporting practical fisheries projects and research.”

Both appointments are with immediate effect.

In their new positions, Mr Crawford and Ms Hapsari will work closely with IPNLF’s partner Asosiasi Perikanan Pole & Line dan Handline (AP2HI), to progress the Indonesian pole-and-line and handline tuna FIP, as well as the implementation of the catch documentation and traceability system with the United States Agency for International Development’s Oceans and Fisheries Partnership (USAID Oceans).
