To be held in Vigo, Spain, between 11 and 12 September 2006 - According to conference organisers ANFACO, tuna is the worldwide processing industry’s main fish product, accounting for more than 55% of the production of canned seafood and fish (both in value and in volume). The tuna fleet is very important to the industry, as tuna is one of the main species captured worldwide.

Some aspects such as its taste, high protein content, ability to use a large part of its meat, and its versatility in meals has made it very popular among consumers. Tuna capture and its industrial and commercial exploitation are increasing, both at EU and worldwide level.

In consequence, the aim of this conference is to serve as a meeting place for the different agents concerned with the extraction, processing and commercialisation of tuna at a world level, and to promote analysis and discussion about the present situation and future prospects.
