The first vessel Engey is due to be delivered before the end of the year and construction is in progress on the blocks for the third vessel Viðey, which will be delivered in the autumn of 2017.

Thórarinn Sigurbjörnsson, HB Grandi’s marine superintendent overseeing the construction at the Celiktrans yard, said there is no firm date set yet for Engey’s delivery. But engine and equipment trials will take place shortly and the first of the gensets is expected to be run imminently. Engey was launched back in March.

The trawlers are all 54.75m overall with a 13.50m beam. Main engines are MAN 6L27/38 units designed to deliver 1790kW at 800rpm. Reduction gearboxes are from Reintjes and each has a PTO for the shaft generator.

The 3800mm diameter propellers are from MAN. The main engines are fitted with scrubbing technology from SCR Catalysator. Each trawler has two D2840 LE 301 gensets. The winch system is 4443kW electric and supplied by Naust Marine. And the 300kW bow thrusters are from Brunvoll.

The catch handling deck and fishroom facilities will be produced by Skaginn and will be fitted as each trawler arrives in Iceland. The trawlers are designed by naval architect Alfreð Tulinius at Nautic ehf.

Following its launch next month and subsequent kit out, Akurey will be delivered in spring 2017.
