Valka has been elevated to the elite division of Icelandic tech companies, with strong growth and earnings exceeding one billion ISK

Valka and HB Grandi recently signed an agreement for a new Valka Cutter and a portion grader for HB Grandi’s redfish processing plant. The machine has a single lane but allows for feeding the fillets in two side by side rows. Consequently, the capacity is doubled, providing a throughput rate of up to 180 fillets per minute.

“The first Valka Cutter was a development project between Valka and HB Grandi that started roughly six years ago. The machine has been running full-time on shifts and now the time has come to increase the capacity and automate even more,” said Gísli Kristjánsson, production manager at HB Grandi’s Reykjavik processing plant.

“We’re finding there’s plenty of interest on the market for boneless redfish portions and this investment is an effort to expand our product portfolio and meet that demand.”

Valka has also been elevated to the elite division of Icelandic tech companies with an award from the Federation of Icelandic Industries and Alliance of Icelandic Seed Companies marking the company’s strong growth and exceeding one billion ISK in revenue. At the same occasion, Valka formally graduated to the elite division of tech companies.

Over the past few years Valka has continued to accelerate and now passed a new milestone with its total revenue exceeding ISK one billion, as well significantly increased earnings. According to the company the outlook for this year is also very positive.
