The HB Grandi fleet exceeded its 2014 total catch by 15% in 2015, with a significant increase in pelagic catches.

Over the same period, catch values dropped by 9.5%, or ISK 1.4bn, according to company data.

Catches were approximately 176,000 tonnes, with an overall catch value of ISK16.7bn. The company says the reason for the increased volume is primarily due to the increased quota for the pelagic vessels, which is due to the higher capelin quota in 2015. Pelagic landings were up by approximately 25% compared to the previous year.

Freezer trawler catches were down by around 12%, with little change in catch values between the two years.

Landings by the wetfish trawlers were also much the same as the previous year, with a small increase in volume and a 12% increase in catch value from ISK4.6bn to almost ISK5.1bn.

The table below shows the catch of each fleet segment compared to the previous year. Freezer trawler catch value figures are in FOB terms for both years. The values could change slightly when the final figures for the last landings of 2015 are available.
