Norway’s Havyard Group will be delivering a new 587 wellboat design to Fosnavaag Shipping, which is being described as the wellboat design of the future.

Fosnavaag Shipping already owns the wellboats Viktoria Viking, Viktoria Lady and Gripfisk, as well as the prawn trawler Remøy and the coastguard vessel KV Alesund.
The Havyard 587 is the largest in a series of workboat designs developed in close cooperation with Fosnavaag Shipping.
Havyard believes that this vessel sets a new standard. Designer Kjetil Myren, Havyard Design & Engineering (HDE), said: “Havyard 587 will contain the finest within well boat technology , setting a new standard for gentle and environmentally friendly transport and treatment of live fish.”
This is largely down to its cylindrical cargo tanks and the efficient filter and water treatment equipment.
The three large cylinder tanks for live fish will have an impressive capacity for 3250 cubic. When completed, the vessel will measure nearly 85 metres long and will accommodate a crew of 12.
The ship is reportedly due for delivery in January 2014.
