Friend of the Sea (FOS) has launched a TV campaign in Italy and Switzerland to introduce viewers to FOS certification, highlighting companies engaging in environmental conservation and social accountability.

The commercial broadcast began in early February in Italy, at prime time on a major TV channel. FOS predicts that 5,000,000 viewers will be reached - almost 10% of Italy's population.

In Switzerland, the campaign will be watched by approximately 700,000 people (10% of the Swiss population) from the second week of February until the end of March. The advertisement for Swiss TV has been translated into French, German and Italian, and will be aired on all 7 major TV channels.

"We believe,” explains Paolo Bray, director of FOS, “that by increasing consumer's awareness of our logo, we will consequently motivate distributors and producers to implement sustainable company policies.”

The campaign will be followed by similar initiatives in Spain and other countries.
