DKSH, a leading market expansion services provider with a focus on Asia, has partnered with Bakker Vis in the Netherlands to supply Friend of the Sea-certified pangasius fillets to the Dutch market.

Bertus Bakker began a business unloading fish in the Port of Ijmuiden in 1974. The company Bakker Vis is currently managed by Martijn Spilt and Martin Riemer, who buy, process and deliver all kinds of seafood.

Their coldstore is capable of holding up to 60 tonnes of fish.

IJmuiden is a major sea fishing centre. Its strong competitive position in the fishing industry is due both to its favourable geographic location and to the accumulated experience and expertise available from its fish processing companies.

Bakker Vis also has a strong social responsibility. It sponsors the Stichting Liboke foundation that fights poverty in the Congo by supporting projects promoting environmentally responsible fishing in Congolese waters.

Martijn Spilt, MD and one of the two shareholder of Bakker Vis said: “We are a dynamic company: our consumers demand sustainable seafood and we meet their requests. We are happy to embrace Friend of the Sea.”
