KD Pharma has complied with the Friend of the Sea standards and can now display the Friend of the Sea eco-label on its Omega-3 bulk oils and supplements.

The fish oil, which can only be provided by Friend of the Sea approved suppliers, is made from trimmings of squid, cod and tuna processing and from anchovies and sardines.
René Kamminga, vice president of nutrition and business development at KD Pharma, said: “This is an important milestone for KD Pharma, emphasising excellence in Omega-3 manufacturing.”
“It also emphasises KD Pharma’s commitment to sustainability and preserving marine environments. Environmental impact and sustainability have always played an important role in KD Pharma's approach to business,” he added.
The company has invested in resources to help develop sustainable practices over the years, such as rainwater recovery for cooping purposes, thermal energy from waster oil and liquid solvent from recyclable natural alcohol.
A chain of custody has been put in place, from the fishery to the processing of the finished product, to guarantee that no mixing occurs between approved and non-approved sources.
