The new France Pélagique trawler will replace two older vessels when it is delivered in late 2018

The new trawler is expected to be delivered in December 2018 and will replace two of the company’s 1980s-vintage pelagic freezer vessels.

“With this new fishing vessel, we will strengthen our efforts in future fisheries; with a focus on maintaining healthy fish stocks, reducing environmental impact, and having dedicated and proud employees,” said Antoine Dhellemmes, CEO at France Pélagique.

France Pélagique has been working with Dutch ship design company ADS to develop the new pelagic trawler’s layout and Havyard Ship Technology expects to contribute the continuation of this work in design and engineering services.

The new 80 metre fishing vessel will incorporate a number of innovations that will contribute to both safe working conditions for the crew and energy efficiency. The new vessel will have the latest technology for sustainable fishing and processing of herring, mackerel and blue whiting and other species, and the is an option for a second vessel.

“We look very forward to the delivery of the vessel as an important milestone in 2018, the year France Pélagique celebrates its 30th anniversary,” Antoine Dhellemmes added.

“We are very grateful to be awarded such a prestigious contract and hope we meet the high expectations of France Pélagique,” said Havyard sales director Lars Conradi Andersen. “Design work will start immediately and will together with previously signed contracts ensure good activity at the yard in 2018.”
