On Friday 30 March, three leading Members of the European Parliament will be taking part in a public Question Time debate in Peterhead.

Struan Stevenson MEP (Conservative), Ian Hudghton MEP (SNP) and Chris Davies MEP (Liberal Democrat) will be taking part in a new European Parliament scheme to take discussion of topical EU issues on the road to hear the views of local people.
Last year, the European Commission published CFP reform proposals and, during 2012, these proposals will be discussed in the European Parliament and by EU Governments.
It is the first time that the European Parliament has had decision-making rights over EU fisheries policy: previously MEPs were consulted, but national governments had the final say. Not any more.
The European Parliament Fisheries Committee is preparing to vote on some of its key reports and amendments on these reform proposals in the coming weeks and months.
The debate will be chaired by Colin Wight of BBC Scotland. Industry representatives, local councillors and other stakeholders, including environmental NGOs, will also be present and will contribute to the debate.
This event will take place at the Waterside Inn near Peterhead: on Friday 30 March, 18.00-19.30.
It is free to attend and open to all, but advance registration is required. To register, or with any queries, please email: epedinburgh@europarl.europa.eu or call: +44 (0)131 557 78 66.
