The FAO has launched its Fishing Vessels Finder (FVF) - a one-stop site to search for detailed information on individual fishing vessels.
The searchable database is an online tool to locate information on individual fishing vessels (including supporting vessels, carriers, fishery research vessels and inspection boats) using information from the five tuna Regional Fisheries Management Organizations and other authoritative sources. Aside from being an archive of current and historical vessel records, the FVF also maps information from multiple sources.
The FVF is still evolving with a view to becoming part of a Global Vessel Records framework in the future. To this end, FAO is seeking interested partners to share vessel information through the FVF.
