Based at La Coruña in Galicia, Tucal specialises in marine and industrial refrigeration equipment and air conditioning, and is has a long track record behind it of supplying plate freezers, ice machines, blast freezers and compact units.
“We can can come up with solutions to all kinds of requirements. We design made-to-measure solutions in close collaboration with our customers, and can also offer turnkey installations,” said Tucal’s Soledad Mariño.
“Our latest innovation that we have invested in is a new production process that improves the finish of our plate freezers,” she said, explaining that the external stainless steel components are passed through an immersion process in as part of this surface treatment.
“As a result of this, the finish of our freezers is significantly much better now, with a more uniform appearance. The quality remains the same, with the whole frame made of stainless steel. Plates are made of extruded aluminium with high mechanical and anticorrosive resistance; and flexible hoses are made of PTFE with stainless steel braided protection.”
“We used to supply the hydraulic pumps separately, as other manufacturers do, and this then needed to be installed on delivery. But since last year, we have been supplying the hydraulic pump already connected to the freezer, unless the customer has a different requirement, so the installation at the destination is simpler and costs are lower. ”
Tucal’s recent deliveries include horizontal and vertical plate freezers delivered to customers in Poland, the Dominican Republic, United Kingdom, Portugal, Lithuania and also in Spain. The factory is now working on manufacturing two large compact plate freezers with the freezing frames required to load the product into the freezer, complete with an automatic ejector for the frozen blocks, which is about to be delivered to a processing plant in Chile.
We also supplied and recently installed a blast freezer in Mauritania which has capacity for 20 tonne/day in 7-hour cycles. This blast freezer is a repeat order and it identical to another one supplied to the same customer in 2012/2013,” she said.
“We have also been making progress with ice machines. Tucal now has a Hawaiian distributor who has bought a series of these ice machines and is actively promoting them to the local industry for both seagoing and shore-based uses,” Soledad Mariño said.
