Tony Lara, who appeared in the Discovery Channel’s reality TV series ‘Deadliest Catch’, has died at the age of 50, according to media reports.

Mr Lara captained FV Cornelia Marie and appeared in six episodes of the TV show, which follows fishing crews working in the harsh Bering Sea southwest of Alaska during the Alaskan king crab, snow crab and bairdi crab fishing seasons.
It’s understood Mr Lara passed away while in Sturgis, South Dakota, but no cause of death has been revealed.
The show’s Facebook page posted on Sunday: “Yesterday we lost a member of the Catch Family. May you RIP Captain Tony Lara. We know that you are up in heaven watching over the Cornelia Marie and rest of the Bering Sea fleet.”
Meanwhile, the Deadliest Catch Twitter account has also paid tribute to the Captain, saying: “Tony Lara will always be part of the #DeadliestCatch family. Our deepest thoughts and prayers go out to his family.”
