Under the agreement between FoS and GLOBALG.A.P., the two certification schemes offer farmers joint certifications. The aim is to reduce duplication, push innovation and drive down audit costs for farms.
“Top product quality is our imperative, and these two new certificates represent yet another confirmation that strict quality standards are applied,” said Goran Markulin, CEO of Cromaris.
After the audit, carried out by DNV GL, Cromaris was found to comply with the GLOBALG.A.P. Aquaculture Version 4 and the four criteria defined in the FoS Add-On. These criteria cover the impact on water body sediment, the effect on the local community regarding access to drinking water and fishing areas, and social criteria by requiring GRASP (GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice).
“In accordance with our strategic orientation, Cromaris will continue with further investments in product quality, as well as in sustainable aquaculture, in order to preserve the resources for future generations,” he added.
Cromaris’ headquarters, fish sorting and processing facility are located in Zadar. The company has five farms, two of which are located in Istria and three in Zadar's area. All farm locations are selected for their clear waters and unspoiled nature, far away from any possible contaminants.
More than half of the company’s production is exported to markets in Croatia, Italia, Slovenia, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia and Hungary. It plans to expand further into French, German and Suisse markets in the near future.
