Representatives from every sector of the UK seafood industry will take part in an hour-long special discussion which will be chaired by Seafish chief executive, Marcus Coleman.

The Humber Seafood Summit draws interest from key people in the importers and distributors, processors, foodservice and retail sectors of the UK seafood industry and brings together a panel of respected industry and national government speakers and delegates from the UK and further afield.

The three key themes for the Humber Seafood Summit are the seafood consumer, aquaculture and trade. Discussions will include consumer trends, aquaculture developments, seafood trade, supply chain development, product integrity, reputation and global outlooks. The Brexit discussion has been added to the agenda as a result of the decision made by the majority of the British public to leave the European Union.

The event is organised and co-ordinated by Seafish in association with key stakeholders in the Humber area, around the UK and globally.

Event organiser Julie Snowden said: “The Humber Seafood Summit is an excellent opportunity for everyone involved and interested in the industry to share ideas and hear from fellow experts.

“Brexit is clearly a crucial subject and we decided that it was important that the issue was discussed at the summit. We will have representatives from all areas of the industry on the panel and it will no doubt be a very interesting discussion.”

A Seafood Fayre evening networking event will be held on Tuesday 27 September at The Humber Royal, Grimsby, with the Humber Seafood Summit taking place on Wednesday 28 September between 8.30am and 4pm at The Pier, Cleethorpes.
