Two Pescanova Group seafood processing plants have received Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification.

Chile’s Nova Austral SA and Acuinova Chile SA join a number of other Pescanova Group plants in receiving BAP certificaiton.
Nova Austral is one of Chile's largest salmon producers. Its salmon processing plant, located in Porvenir, Region XII, processes more than 20,000 tonnes of Atlantic salmon per year.
Elsewhere, Acuinova's plant, located in Puerto Chacabuco-Aysen, Region XI, produces more than 35,000 tonnes of Atlantic salmon per year.
Both plants supply both fresh and frozen salmon to retail and foodservice customers in the European Union, North America, Japan, Russia, China, Southeast Asia and Latin America.
The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) says with the addition of the Acuinova and Nova Austral facilities and other processing plants, the BAP programme has reached a milestone, surpassing the 600 facility mark.
The combined annual output from BAP certified salmon processing plants now exceeds 400,000 tonnes. Currently, much of the growth within the BAP programme is attributed to salmon.
