The company says Scottish salmon and shellfish will be the driver for growth at its seafood processing facility in Buckie, north east Scotland, which is currently undergoing a multi million pound development programme.

Victor West, managing director, ASL, said: “All our salmon is 100% Scottish and only sourced from farms we work incredibly closely with and which practice the best standards of husbandry and care. In other words, our salmon is grown, harvested and smoked in Scotland.”

He added: “We continually receive feedback from customers about how highly they rate our smoked salmon and how Scottish salmon is the best for flavour and texture. We intend to fully build upon this global reputation of Scottish provenance for both our smoked salmon and shellfish products.”

The new high care crab processing area at the processing facility is already up and running and is currently sourcing high quality crab caught locally by Scottish fishing boats. The dedicated langoustine processing section is due for completion later this week.

The third stage of the development will be the completion of the Scottish smoked salmon processing area, which is due for commissioning at the end of August.

Major features of the facility include traditional kilns, a dedicated hot smoking area. ASL says the facility will allow it to produce the highest quality salmon and a new range of Scottish smoked salmon and cured products.
