This year, supplier of heavy duty plastic cages, Aqualine, will move to a completely new modern aquaculture base at Frøya (an island 140km outside Trondheim city, Norway).
The new base will be approximately 100 hectares - three times larger than the company’s current base.
The company’s new Midgard System is a fully integrated cage net and distention system where the sinker tube is hung directly from the cage net - providing maximum net tensioning and optimal load distribution even in the most challenging sea conditions.
A new power winch system is available to lift and lower the whole sinker tube and net in one simple operation – however the net is also able to be fully managed by traditional lifting and lowering methods.
The new Midgard cage net has been designed for use across Aqualine’s full range of new cages, and with a simple modification can be fitted to existing cages.
The majority of fish farmers along the harsh Norwegian coastline have now invested in a significant number of Midgard fish nets for their farms and several are now deployed at sea – with outstanding results.
