The WASSP Module for MaxSea TimeZero PLOT has been released.

MaxSea believes that this is set to be the most powerful commercial fishing solution on the market.

WASSP is a multi-beam sounder capable of transmitting 112 depth points, or 224 for the Survey version, on a wide 120° port-starboard swath of the seafloor in one ping. With this new Module added to MaxSea TimeZero PLOT, a range of advanced compatibility between the two systems are unlocked.

The WASSP multi-beam sounder consists of a transducer (just like any sounder), a processor box (called a ‘BTxR’) and a dedicated computer running the WASSP software (usually called the ‘WASSP Processor’).

There are various models of WASSP available (Fishing and Survey versions) and TimeZero is compatible with all of them except for the old Survey model 160-S.

It is now possible to interface the WASSP processor to another computer running MaxSea TimeZero PLOT v2.0.5 with the WASSP Module, which MaxSea says will appeal to professional fishing customers who want to have the most powerful system onboard.

The MaxSea TimeZero PLOT with the WASSP Module can take all the depth points generated by WASSP and perform seabed profiling at up to 100 times the speed of conventional single-beam sounders with an accuracy of 20cm*20cm for the WASSP fishing version and 10cm*10cm for the WASSP Survey version.

In addition to depth points, WASSP also transmits ‘BackScatter’ data (hardness) that can be displayed in MaxSea TimeZero PLOT using a colour scale similar to Depth Shading.
