Norselight has displayed at Trondheim its 6.4km-range, remote control, XS100 xenon searchlight.

It is one of a range of products produced by the Berg-based Norwegian company, which has agents throughout the world. Items include floodlights, deck lighting, lantern-controllers, lanterns, daylight-signalling, EX-proof lighting, heaters and horn 'typhoons'. Some have stainless steel elements and extreme marine condition proofing.

Their BL35 MX xenon bow light is selling to search and rescue vessels as well fast-ferry fleets which have to watch out for logs, ice, buoys, etc.

Norselight says it is "the ocean's most powerful bow light" and is effective in heavy rain, snow and fog and when operating in murky conditions and water channels between islands and narrow fjords, offering either wide or narrow beams. The Norwegian Coast Guard Rescue service plans to upgrade its whole fleet with it.

Their XS 1000 R10, remote-control searchlight also makes it possible to light deck and quayside activities which could be useful when landing fish in port.

One vessel owner reports cutting costs on board using two searchlight SHRI 1000Ds to illuminate all port and starboard instead of a expensive series of conventional lights at points along the vessel.

The XS 1000 is four times brighter than a halogen light, capable of rotating 340° horizontally and 55° vertically and is controlled using a joystick, Norselight says.
