Many high-capacity offshore fishing vessels in the central Vietnam province of Binh Dinh have been equipped with high-frequency communication equipment, making it more convenient for fishermen to update their operation at sea with inshore monitoring stations.
The 1,433 vessels account for 52% of the total in the locality.
The investment by the provincial Sub-Department of Capture Fisheries and Resources Protection is to install communication equipment and build an inshore monitoring station in Tam Quan Bac commune, Hoai Nhon district.
Construction of another station at De Gi seaport, Phu Cat district, is under consideration.
