Deepchill™ is an advanced cooling and preservation medium comprised of millions of micro-crystals suspended in a liquid solution to form an ice slurry.
The micro-crystals surround the entire surface area of the product being cooled, giving it the ability to chill at least three times faster, and store a few degrees colder and fresher for a longer period than conventional ice. Deepchill™ suspends and protects the product from bruising, bacterial growth and tissue degradation.
Recently, Sunwell has introduced its land-based Deepchill™ Mini-Plant making slurry a reality for fish processors or distributors. The Deepchill™ Mini-Plant is ideal for chilling, storage and packing as it can produce variable Deepchill™ concentrations such as 25% for rapid chilling of warm fish and higher ice concentration, even dry crystals for packing from freshwater or seawater.
The Deepchill™ Mini-Plant includes a small powerful modular Deepchill™ Generator, model IG-6VM (WxLxH: 0.46x1.14x1.73m), which can generate up to 4,900kg of Deepchill™ crystals per 24 hours, or 19,600kg of liquid Deepchill™ with 25% ice concentration. The Mini-Plant also includes a small storage tank and a delivery system, making it possible to instantly cool large amounts of fish within a short period of time.
The Mini-Plant's modular design means that the components can be positioned remotely from one another wherever space is available and quickly installed using simple piping connections. Sunwell recently sold a number of the Deepchill™ Mini-Plants, including to the Heian Kaisan in Kumamoto, Japan through Slurry21, a Hitachi-Zosen Group company.
