SRS Frigadon Ltd, in conjunction with Swedish sister company Frigadon AB, has announced the arrival of the next step in R1270 hydrocarbon chillers.

The company says that the new FWC-3000-HC range of natural refrigerant chillers increases its line up of water chillers.
The new units can provide up to 320kW medium temperature and 450kW for air conditioning applications, and have zero CO2 emissions.
The five circuit machines can also provide up to 120kW for freezing applications operating at flow temperatures of -31oC.
Based on more than 14 years of Frigadon hydrocarbon refrigerant ‘know how’ and continual development additional features now include:
- Bitzer R1270 / R290 compressors
- Grundfos stainless steel inverter pumps
- Ziehl-Abegg inverter driven condenser fans
- Built-in heat recovery systems
- Stainless steel chillers for Hycool LT freezing applications
Other features include:
- Frigadon can now incorporate the new Pump Energy Optimisation (PEO) which is to ensure that energy is not wasted, which matches internal flow requirement to the inverter of the pump
- The use of R1270/R290 primary natural refrigerant gives increased COP (Coefficient of Performance) for the unit compared with HFC refrigerants
- The heat recovery option utilising the heat from the refrigeration process to give a hot fluid loop system packaged within the chiller is suitable for hot water to under floor heating applications.
Fishing industry projects include the recently completed Brixham Fish Market and the refurbishment currently underway at Grimsby Fish Market.
Further afield, SRS Frigadon has supplied the new FWC 3000 chillers, Georg Fischer ‘Cool-fit’ pre-insulated pipe work, AIA heat exchanger coils, Hycool potassium formate heat transfer fluids, control panel etc. for a brand new fish processing plant situated in Bucharest, Romania.
Alan Colbourne, MD of SRS Frigadon says, “These are the most advanced chillers that we have ever built and they incorporate all of our combined technology and compliances with EU Directives etc. The new Frigadon chillers will bring a greener future to refrigeration within the fishing and fish processing industry both at home and overseas.
“Furthermore we are currently in the process of designing another new range of liquid cooled machines incorporating hydrocarbon based screw compressors – namely the Frigadon ‘Screwdriver’. This increased capacity will give us the opportunity to look at much bigger projects of Up to 1,500kW
“All of this is a very exciting time for SRS Frigadon.”
