A new IQF installation for Digby, Nova Scotia company Scotia Harvest has been shipped to Canada, where it is expected to handle around 27 tonnes of haddock and redfish per shift.

The system for Scotia Harvest incorporates the latest technology and a production line designed to better control throughput, yield and quality throughout processing. Following a full-scale trial run carried out by Tóti Theodórsson and his team of software and mechanical engineers at Skaginn 3X’s workshops in Iceland, the system was disassembled and dispatched across the Atlantic for installation at Scotia Harvest’s 4000 square metre facility.
The IQF tunnel freezer delivers premium product at a lower cost, with products maintaining their appearance throughout the process. According to Skaginn 3X, the comapny’s freezers increase yield, quality and throughput, as drip loss is kept at a minimum and product dehydration is prevented.
“Our freezers have proven to be extremely reliable over the years and our innovative technology delivers outstanding product quality,” a spokesperson for the company said.
“Designed with hygiene, easy cleaning and good ergonomics in mind, the IQF Tunnel Freezer can run throughout the week without complete defrosting.”
