Workers in the sub IMO/sub 24m professional sector will be able to learn about the latest safety solutions from experts at a NEXT GEN event in Southampton, UK this April.
Comprising three specialist safety days focusing on MOB, systems and equipment and shock mitigation, the NEXT GEN 2019 programme brings together an international group of 25 experts including Capt Andrew Moll, chief inspector at the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB); Cdr Adam Northover – fleet navigator & seamanship officer, MoD boats manager at the Royal Navy; and John Haynes, managing director at Shock Mitigation.
Workshop lead, John Haynes, said: “Each Workshop focusses on a specific topic, so that busy people can attend for a single day. In recent years the NEXT GEN programme has gained a reputation for highlighting burning issues and emerging opportunities. The unique insight gained from dynamic panel sessions is leading to improvements for in-service systems and procurement of next generation vessels.”
Protecting lives
The Man Overboard Prevention & Recovery workshop on 2 April will highlight lessons learned and give viable methods to reduce loss of life at sea, in harbours, docks and marinas.
On 3 April, the Safety Systems & Equipment session delves into future requirements along with the challenge of integrating innovative systems into the maritime workplace to improve safety, communication and situational awareness.
Finally, on 4 April, Shock Mitigation Solutions will look at managing the risk of operating planing craft in waves, how extreme applications have driven rapid development and how cost-effective solutions are now becoming available for lower speed vessels.
