After a record breaking year in 2007, DSI has announced record sales of vertical and horizontal plate freezers during the first half of 2008.

DSI's sales director, Peter N Christensen, tells World Fishing that orders are coming from all over the world, but would like to highlight the orders for 48 vertical plate freezers for Willem van Der Zwan SCH 302 and 24 vertical freezers for Alida SCH6 also owned by van der Zwan.

Mr Christensen says that the delivery for Willem van der Zwan is a special one for DSI as the company delivered the first 44 vertical plate freezers when the vessel was first built, and when the vessel was refitted few years ago the company delivered new Co2 freezing plates for the 44 freezers (unfortunately, shortly after this the vessel bunt down). DSI is now delivering 48 new freezers for the same vessel.

Additionally, the company is delivering 26 vertical plate freezers for Russian Standard blocks for the company Alliance Marine – the freezers are to be split into two deliveries of 13 units on two vessels.

The Murmansk Trawl Fleet vessel Maskin Starostin has also installed new DSI vertical plate freezers.

Horizontal plate freezers have been delivered to Trident Seafood in the USA – over the last few years most of Trident's vessels have now been refitted with new DSI horizontal plate freezers.

Mr Christensen was also keen to highlight the delivery of eight V20 vertical flat top plate freezers for the Norwegian vessel M/S ANDØYBUEN. The freezers will be equipped with an automatic unloading system manufactured by Bjørdal Industrier A/S and Steel Tech A/S in Norway, with whom DSI has a close co-operation with regards to automatic unloading of frozen blocks. At Nor-Fishing this year, DSI and Bjørdal Industrier/Steel Tech will be presenting the system at the DSI stand in the Danish pavilion.

Mr Christensen is expecting a lot of the new system and more orders for the same equipment are expected to be closed in the very near future.

He adds that DSI is still experiencing a string of focus on the newly developed automatic vertical plate freezers V16, which have now been in operation on the Norwegian vessel Havbris for more than a year. More than 1,000 tons of fish have been frozen in the freezer without any problems at all.
